The Ayden Chamber of Commerce is inviting community members to cheer on participants in the first 5k Color Bomb Business Fun Run from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The run begins at Ayden Middle School and the finish line will be at the West Avenue stage. Participants will be walking and running their way through the business district and past three stations where they will be “bombed” with color. The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina will hold its Fluff and Puff Dog Wash fundraiser and an animal adoption event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Capital Subaru of Greenville, 399 S. Memorial Drive. The event will include music by Tiffany Elaine and Brandy’s Food Truck and door prizes. Dogs must have proof of rabies vaccination to be washed.

USA Dance will hold its monthly ballroom dance event Saturday at the historic Turnage Theatre in downtown Washington. Debbie Tuttle will present a hustle lesson at 6:30 p.m. The dance party is 7-9 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Robin N. Coger, East Carolina University’s new provost, will headline the September Power Luncheon hosted by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hilton Greenville, 207 S.W. Greenville Blvd. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Coger joined ECU in July from N.C. A&T State University where she was dean of the College of Engineering and professor of mechanical engineering. In addition to her roles as provost and vice chancellor, she will serve as a professor and faculty member in ECU’s College of Engineering and Technology. East Carolina University School of Music’s Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival will host its season-opening extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 in A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall. The event will feature Kwan Yi, piano; Hye-Jin Kim, violin; Ara Gregorian, viola; and Peter Stumpf, cello. They will perform works of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johan Halvorsen, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Robert Schumann.
